Hair Restoration
Hair loss affects a significant majority of the population. The most common cause of hair loss is androgenetic hair loss, or male pattern baldness, with an equivalent in women. This is genetic and is not due to clogged, oily hair follicles, wearing helmets or mites contrary to old wives' tales.
In androgenetic hair loss, the male hormone, testosterone, is converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which attacks the hair follicles. This causes shrinkage of these cells, leading to death and loss of hair. This first starts as a receding hair line, then progresses to move backwards, followed by a bald patch at the crown, which eventually gets bigger.
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the culprit hormone responsible for hair loss in Androgenetic hair loss in genetically susceptible men and also in peri and post-menopausal women. In men, this starts as a receding hairline that progresses backwards. In women, this presents as a diffuse pattern of hair loss. Physician prescribed oral, topical and laser treatments will help suppress the hormonal influences that deter hair growth, as well as improve the scalp circulation. In that way, hair follicles are given a better chance of growth and regeneration. -

Regenera Activa
With the new Regenera Activa, patients suffering from hair loss will be able to reactivate dormant hair follicles and stimulate new hair growth.
In this FDA-approved treatment, small samples of skin from the scalp (micrografts) are first collected while under local anaesthesia. The regenerative cells from these tissues are then extracted using the Regenera Activa device and mixed with a special solution. Finally, this solution is injected to balding areas of the scalp, thus repairing and stimulating the area for hair growth.
Please take note that the procedure should only be performed by an accredited medical professional.
As this method uses autologous micrografts (from the patient’s own body), there is no risk of rejection. The process takes around 60 minutes and results are usually visible around 1 month after the treatment, lasting between 1 to 2 years.
