This skin resurfacing technology treats a "fraction" or a column of skin at a time, hence the name ProFractional. Erbium Yag laser energy vaporises columns of skin and ablates scars, uneven skin texture and removes pigmentation selectively, tightening the different skin layers simultaneously with the XC mode. This allows for faster healing times minus the complications seen with other fractional lasers. The XC stands for “with coagulation”, in other words, heating of the deeper layers of the dermis and therefore resulting in skin tightening simultaneously.
